Neutropenia

Mild: ANC < 1000/mL

Moderate: ANC < 500/mL

Severe: ANC < 100/mL

Organisms of Concern:

• E.coli

• Pseudomonas

• Candida

• Aspergillosis

Neutropenic Precautions

• no fresh flowers or plants

  • aspergillus has been found in the soil of potted cactus plants, as well as dried and fresh flowers​

• eliminate sources of stagnant water

• no rectal temps

• no rectal medications

• no raw meats, fruits or vegetables

• no deli foods

• no uncooked pepper

• no raw or partially cooked eggs

• patient must wear mask when out of room

• continue these precautions until ANC > 500

• handwashing
