• M > F

• most common cause of myocardial infarction in kids

• inflammation disease of the blood vessels, mucous membrane and heart

• believed to be from exposure to an infectious agent

• coronary aneurysm

 

Diagnosis

• sausage swollen fingers 

• conjunctivitis

• rash (trunks, extremities)

• extremity involvement

• adenopathy

• mucosal erythema (starwberry tongue)

• fevers > 5 days

 

Tests / Labs

• History and Physical

• ESR

• EKG

• ECHO

 

Treatment

• aspirin (Reye's syndrome)

• influenza vaccine

• IVIg (IV gamma globulin)
