Partial gastrectomy

  • removal of part of the stomach

 

Sleeve gastrectomy

  • removal of the left side of the stomach (usually performed for weight loss)

 

Antrectomy (30% resection)

  • antrum: initial portion of the pylorus

  • Gastrin is a peptide hormone that stimulates secretion of gastric acid (HCl) by the parietal cells of the stomach and aids in gastric motility

    • released by G cells in the pyloric antrum of the stomach, duodenum, and the pancreas

  • with truncal vagotomy as one of the surgical procedures for duodenal ulcer or pyloric channel ulcer

Hemigastrectomy (50% resection)

Subtotal gastrectomy (80% resection
